Your Beautiful Eyes Revealed

A simple 40 minute PDO thread procedure can get you closer to the brow shape and
refreshed eye appearance you are seeking!

One of the frustrating effects of facial aging is the development of loose skin in the forehead/brow and eyelid region. As the skin shifts downward, it creates creases and folds and may even result in lids which “rest” on your lashes. The overall effect can be one that mimics a look of fatigue, weariness or sadness. Although we can get some limited lift in this region with our wrinkle relaxers and a few dots of dermal filler, we quickly hit a wall where no further improvement is possible. Lifting PDO threads are an excellent option to reposition sagging skin, revealing the lid and lifting the brow in a natural looking way which will also produce collagen over time to begin to replace what has been lost. The result is a more refreshed, bright and youthful appearance to the eyes. Over time, the PDO threads will dissolve, leaving just new collagen in their wake.

When you aren’t ready for a surgical forehead lift and/or eyelid surgery (aka “blepharoplasty”)

Affordable

The PDO thread Non-Surgical Brow Lift achieves natural looking results with much less financial investment than is required for surgery.

Customizable

Whether your need lift along the entire brow or are just looking for the trendy “Cat’s Eye” tail of the brow lift, each procedure is customized in terms of thread pattern and direction to achieve the lift and brow shape you are looking for.

Safe

PDO threads are made of a suture material which has been used in the operating room for decades. It dissolves slowly over time leaving only water, collagen and elastin in its place.

How do I book a consultation?

Call us at (603) 931 4345 to set up your free “Limited Consultation”, if you simply want to discuss your lid and brow concerns, or a full “Head to Toe Consultation” if you have other issues you would like to discuss at the same time.

What should I expect from my consultation?

One of our experiences nurses or medical assistants will review your history and take photographs.

They will review the specifics of the procedure, including treatment pricing. They will then present the photos and consult information to Dr. Vuich. Within a few days you will receive a return call letting you know Dr. Vuich’s input/recommendations.

The Non-Surgical Brow Lift ranges in price according to the complexity of the case (which impacts the number and type of threads needed to achieve the desired lift), but is in the range of $575 to $1050 on average.

Who cannot have a Non Surgical Brow
Lift performed?

In general, procedures are not performed on pregnant women or on patients with a history of keloid scars.

Realistic expectations are important! If your brow and/or lid laxity is too advanced we will be honest with you and suggest that you consult with a surgeon. Thread lifting is not a surgical procedure. It does not remove skin. The results of a thread lifting procedure vary depending on the number and type of threads use, the pattern of thread placement, how much mobility there is in your skin, and other factors which we cannot control.

Is there any pre-treatment preparation needed?

Avoid substances which increase the likelihood of bruising, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen and similar anti-inflammatories, Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Ginseng and Ginko Biloba, Vitamin E and Fish Oil. You should not have a social event within 2 to 3 weeks (in case you may bruise).

We often prefer the muscles in the region to be “relaxed” prior to placing the lifting threads here, so botulinum toxin/”botox” is generally a preparation for this procedure. You would come in a week or more in advance for “botox” to be placed between the brows, at the tail of the brow, and possibly in the forehead as well. Whether you elect to continue “botox” after that is entirely up to you. The cost of any “botox” is not included in the cost of the thread lift procedure.

A quick note about before and after photos:

When deciding on an aesthetic provider to perform your services, one of the things we suggest to patients is to review before and after photos of cases performed by a particular provider. Having said this, the time at which the after photo is done is very important to take into: account especially when it comes to thread lifting. An immediate after photo with thread lifting may look quite dramatic in terms of the degree of lifting/change in facial contours. You may even consider it to look “overdone”, “unnatural” or “surgical”. It is important to understand that in particular with this type of procedure there is generally an initial “over correction” or “over pull” which may even be done intentionally. Furthermore, the face has the volume of the lidocaine fluid which was used to numb the regions, and that volume will disappear over the course of a day. A more realistic “after” photo would be one which is done perhaps 3 WEEKS later, when any temporary swelling has resolved entirely, and normal facial activity has resulted in the threads settling into their “final position”. Another good time to re do photos is at the 3 month mark as this is the time when the further benefit of new collagen formation is starting to become apparent to the naked eye.

Above is a good example of the progression of an advanced brow lift utilizing MINT PDO threads at Renew MediSpa.

The first photo is pre treatment, the middle photo is immediate after- which might cause some concern as you may feel she looks “too
surprised” or “shocked” and the brow shape is not “perfect”. But at such a time, there is a lot going on in terms of swelling, lidocaine
volume, muscle relaxation due to lidocaine, etc… As you see in the final photo (completely healed), without any intervention in the
meantime, the brow shape has returned to natural, the look is not over done or awkward, and there is a clear improvement in brow
position and lid appearance. Be an educated consumer and always ask questions if something is not clear to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

These all refer to a similar procedure. Different providers will elect to use different names for a procedure, like a nickname. The name does not tell you what type of threads will be used, how many will be used, or how they will be placed.

There are many different types of threads which can be used, and many different patterns. Depending on the number of threads planned, your procedure may be more or less expensive than someone else’s. Thread lifting procedures are some of the most highly customized non-surgical aesthetic procedures there are!

As with all PDO thread lifting procedures, the first few minutes of the procedure involves getting the area numb. You will feel some stinging from lidocaine injection into the region. After that you feel mostly just pressure as the thread is passed into position. There will be soreness to touch for a period of time afterward, which generally does not require anything beyond Tylenol. Icing the area afterwards is helpful to reduce swelling and soreness.

This is variable and can range from 6 months to 1.5 years! Remember, if you are new to PDO threads, you are more likely to do a booster session sooner rather than later. If you have had threads done in a region more than once, you are more likely to enjoy longer lasting results.

Yes, a lifting thread can be placed in such a way as to elevate the corner of the eye, alleviating to some degree the “crow’s feet” in this region.

Most of our PDO thread clients still come in for botulinum toxin because relaxing the muscles which pull down on the brows is not something that threads can do. Threads lift the loose skin, they do not relax facial muscles to a significant extent. However, threads can achieve more lift that can generally be achieved with botox alone.

Lifting threads produce collagen which will enhance the skin thickness/collagen content. However, you may want to consider adding smoothing threads also which can target fine lines directly. Combining thread procedures with platelet rich plasma (PRP) is another great way to boost collagen and thus attack fine lines that have not been responsive to other aesthetic interventions. Visit our separate page on Under Eye Concerns for more information on PDO eye threads and PRP.

Soreness to touch is common and generally resolves over the course of 1 to 2 weeks. Temporary surface irregularities resolve over the course of 3 days to 2 weeks (depends on thread type, placement, and whether or not you bruise). In general, it is a good idea not to have any social engagements for a few weeks as swelling in this area can hang around for a bit. The exception would be the simple “Cat’s Eye” Brow lift which usually does not produce significant/noticeable swelling, as opposed to a more advanced procedure where threads are placed across the entire forehead. Ask your provider what to expect based on the planned patterns of thread for your procedure.

Skin smoothing and tightening procedures can produce some improvement though typically a series of treatments is recommended.

  • SmartSkin CO2/Laser Skin Resurfacing- reduce fine lines and treat even the delicate skin under the brow and the eyelids. A series of treatments is required, and downtime includes redness, dryness and swelling.
  • Ultherapy Upper Face- uses micro focused ultrasound to stimulate new collagen at multiple skin levels and has minimal to no downtime, but a series of treatments is required and improvement is not immediate.
  • AGNES RF- Our newest RF device is specially designed to be able to treat in delicate areas such as the forehead, brow and eye region. AGNES RF produces smoothing as well as tightening of the treated skin and can be used to tighten the skin under the brow as well as in the forehead region to achieve a brow lift. Improvement is not immediate but develops over the course of three months as the new collagen forms. More than one session is usually required, but results can last for years.
