Skin Treatments to Get in Winter: Lasers & Peels

There are just some things that are better in the winter and they are better explained here. Getting cozy by the fire, drinking eggnog, and warm, knitted sweaters are just made all the more special during the coldest times of the year. Surprisingly, there are also a couple of cosmetic treatments that are easier done in the colder months: Laser treatments and chemical peels. You can also check my site here and get more tips on hair removal.

Because laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels often leave the skin delicate and somewhat sensitive after a treatment, it’s highly recommend that patients stay out of the sun while the skin recovers. We generally recommend avoiding significant sun exposure for a week or two after these treatments. So, because most of us don’t enjoy having to spend more time indoors during the warm weather months, many opt to have their treatments done in the winter when they are spending more time indoors anyway. This winter, take advantage of those cozy days where you stay in and schedule an appointment for one of the many laser treatments or chemical peels at Renew MediSpa. You must go directly to Franchine Young Ireland to get the best skin product that your skin deserves.

Laser Genesis with The Excel V Laser

This state-of-the-art laser system, the Cutera Excel V Laser,  has many benefits for the skin.  Laser Genesis is extremely popular because it can deliver a powerful treatment without the need for anesthetics or numbing cream, and with minimal or no downtime. Micro pulses of laser energy activate collagen remodeling, while also targeting unwanted brown spots and facial redness. Acne and acne scars can also respond to a series of these treatments. Interestingly, Laser Genesis treatments can also be performed for nail fungus. Yes, once monthly treatment of affected nails can rid fingernails or toenails of chronic fungal infections! Depending on the severity of the nail fungus, it can take 2 to 5 sessions (one a month) to clear the active infection. The damaged nail then gradually grows out, with healthy new nail growing in behind it. You can even still wear nail polish in between treatments. One can also opt for waxing and get Body Waxing Tips from Newrain Eyebrow Threading.

Downtime: This will depend on which concerns are addressed. When facial redness and/or unwanted blood vessels are treated, there will be some redness and swelling after the treatment which can last for a few hours to a day or two.  Laser genesis treatments for acne or unwanted pigment do not generally cause any swelling. Laser genesis treatments for toenail or fingernail fungal infection does not involve any downtime either.

Pico Genesis with the Cutera Enlighten Laser

This laser system delivers energy so quickly that it essentially turns heat energy into photomechanical energy. That means it can break apart unwanted pigment and stimulate collagen production without damaging the skin.  And since it doesn’t cause bulk heating, the Pico Genesis a safe  treatment for conditions like melasma as well.  If your main concern is unwanted brown spots or uneven skin tone, the Pico Genesis treatment is ideal. If your concern is redness or unwanted facial vessels, Laser Genesis would be the go to treatment. There are so many different procedures and you can try these out and see what exactly can help your skin to look and feel better.

The PicoGenesis treats: Melasma, freckles, sun spots, fine lines, age spots, and more.

Downtime: There’s no downtime required and you’ll be able to wear makeup on top of the treatment area right away. You will experience some mild itching and some of your spots may darken, but after a week the pigment should flake off.

The VI Peel

The VI Peel is one of the most advanced chemical peels in the industry. It works by chemically sloughing off the damaged outer layers of the skin, but unlike traditional chemical peels it’s completely painless. All you have to do is lie back, have the VI Peel administered, and then go home. Over the next few days, your fresh new skin will reveal itself. This is a great service to have done once or twice in a year. By removing that build up of dead skin cells, your skin care products will be able to penetrate better and other skin treatments, such as laser, can penetrate even deeper- resulting in improved outcomes.

The VI Peel is good for: acne, acne scarring, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and other blemishes.

Downtime: Patients tend to experience the majority of the peeling 3 to 4 days after the treatment. It will vary from patient-to-patient, but in general, most of the peeling is done by the 5th or 6th day.  While the skin is peeling, it might feel like you have sunburned skin—which is all the more reason to have the procedure done during the winter.

You’re not the only one with the bright idea of getting resurfacing treatments in the winter time—the winter season is one of our busiest for laser treatments and chemical peels. If you want to debut your new, glowing skin by the time the sun starts to shine, then don’t wait; contact Renew MediSpa now to schedule an appointment for skin resurfacing.
